Ryan focuses his practice in the areas of tax controversy, tax planning, and business law.
In his tax controversy practice, Ryan counsels individuals, partnerships, and corporations under examination by the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities. He also counsels clients before IRS Office of Appeals, and is licensed to practice before the United States Tax Court.
He also has extensive experience advising U.S. citizens and residents with offshore accounts and business operations concerning their U.S. tax obligations and various matters in the international enforcement arena, including the Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP), and the Streamlined Filing Compliance Procedures (SFCP).
In his tax planning practice, Ryan structures tax-free mergers, divisions, 1031 exchanges, advises clients in obtaining letter rulings from the IRS, and counsels small business owners on tax-efficient succession planning matters.
In his business law practice, Ryan serves as outside counsel to privately-held businesses owners, directors, and officers regarding entity selection and formation, real estate acquisitions and leasing, and contract negotiation.
